Q: What would my responsibilities be if PUSH Services employed me?

A: PUSH Services provides support to people with a variety of abilities. As a Direct Support Staff (DSS), you would spend most of your shift in direct contact with the people in need of our services. Your specific duties would vary depending upon the people with whom you work and the shifts you work. Q: What kind of experience/education is required for a Direct Support Staff?

A: PUSH Services seeks to hire individuals who are dependable, sensitive and caring, energetic, motivated, creative and flexible. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in effectively interacting with others, in both communicating with others and openly listening. Potential employees also must be able to work independently, while still capable of accepting supervision, guidance and feedback. Our employees must be open to learning new approaches and new ways of thinking. Most importantly, we expect our employees to embrace and consistently apply the mission and values that drive PUSH Services. Specific education degrees or licenses are not required for direct support staff.

 

Q: What kind of training do new employees receive?

A: All new employees at PUSH Services receive new staff orientation, which includes training in comprehensive license and housing with services certificate policies and procedures, OSHA health and safety, HIPAA, working with persons with intellectual disabilities, behavior support, CPR, Positive Supports and First Aid. In addition, new employees also receive specific training about the needs of the consumers that they will be working.  Other trainings as relevant to the services provided could be conducted during the year or as needed.
